Start with an overview of CoreMedia KIO Co-Pilot

Welcome to the CoreMedia KIO Co-Pilot documentation! In this introduction, you can begin with a high-level look at CoreMedia’s AI integration. It’s called KIO Co-Pilot and is available in CoreMedia Studio as a copilot-style chat UI.

Prerequisites

To use CoreMedia KIO Co-Pilot, you must meet the following requirements:

  • CMCC v.12.2406.1.1 and higher

  • CMCC v.12.2412.0.1 and higher

  • CoreMedia License with KIO Co-Pilot enabled

Please note that the responses generated by KIO may vary even when similar or identical prompts are used. This variability is due to the probabilistic nature of the underlying AI model and system-level parameters such as temperature, which influence how deterministic or creative the output is. As a result, outputs can be affected by subtle differences in context, phrasing, prior interactions within a session, or system configuration.

While KIO is designed to provide helpful and coherent content, we cannot guarantee consistent or repeatable results for every prompt. Users are encouraged to review and edit all KIO-generated content to ensure it meets their editorial standards and intended messaging.

AI-Based Services Integration

KIO communicates with a KIO backend, which in turn interacts with a Large Language Model (LLM) while the chat component in CoreMedia Studio allows users to seamlessly interact with the AI services.

This integration is designed to deliver a better user experience by providing AI-driven assistance and automation within the Studio environment.

Dockerized and Customizable KIO Backend

CoreMedia provides a Docker image for the KIO backend, which starts a Spring AI-based application. This backend application includes several preconfigured tools that enable access to CoreMedia Content Cloud (for example, reading and modifying content).

You can customize the Docker image to fit specific needs. Configurations for CMS access or the desired LLM.

Prompt engineers can create Playbooks for complex, recurring tasks, which can be easily used through prompting. See Playbooks for more information.

CoreMedia DXP Integration

The KIO backend requires connections to be set up and configured for your CoreMedia Content Cloud (CMCC) installation (Content Server, Studio Server). These connections enable the backend to interact with the CMCC components for various operations.

Moreover, an integration into CoreMedia Experience Cloud (CMEC) can also be configured.
