CoreMedia product catalog is based on content items of the types Category and Product. It enables a company website to present the products of the company, but without a connection to an ecommerce shop.

Working with the CoreMedia Product Catalog

As of CMCC 13, CoreMedia Content Cloud supports two distinct types of product catalogs:

  • Local product catalog — managed as content directly in the CoreMedia repository, using the content types Category and Product. This is suitable for setups without a connected commerce system.

  • Commerce Integration — connects to an external commerce system via eCommerce Connectors, pulling catalog data from that system into Studio.

How the Local Product Catalog Works

The local product catalog is built on the content types Category and Product. You use the Library in CoreMedia Studio to build and manage your product hierarchy. Categories can contain sub-categories and products, and the structure is defined through content links between these items.

Creating a New Category

  1. In the Library, navigate to the catalog folder and select the parent category under which the new category should appear.

  2. Click the New Content Item icon and select Category, or right-click the parent and choose New Content Item > Category from the context menu.

  3. The new Category content item is created automatically and linked to the parent category. Its form opens immediately.

  4. Enter at least a Category Title — this is used, for example, in the breadcrumb navigation on the website.

Creating a New Product

  1. In the Library, navigate to the catalog folder and select the category to which you want to add the product.

  2. Click the New Content Item icon and select Product, or right-click the category and choose New Content Item > Product from the context menu.

  3. In the dialog that appears, enter a name for the product and click Create.

  4. The new Product content item is created and automatically linked to the selected category. Its form opens immediately.

  5. Enter at least a Product Title and a unique identifier in the Product Code field.

The Product Code must be unique across the catalog, as it is used to identify the product unambiguously.
