Working with the CoreMedia Product Catalog
The CoreMedia product catalog is built on content items of the types Category and Product. The catalog structure is defined by links: products link to their parent category, and categories link to their sub-categories.
By default, the catalog appears as a separate root folder in the Library’s tree view — not under All Content. This means searches for products and categories only work within the Catalog root folder. You can change this behavior in the CoreMedia Product Catalog Content Mode settings.
Creating a New Category
-
In the Library, navigate to the Catalog root folder and select the parent category under which you want to create the new category.
-
Click the New Content Item icon and select Category, or right-click the parent category and choose New Content Item > Category from the context menu.
-
The new
Categorycontent item is created and automatically linked to the parent category. Its form opens immediately. -
Enter at least a Category Title — this title is used, for example, in the breadcrumb navigation of the website.
|
The context menu also gives you access to additional actions such as opening the item in a tab, starting publication or localization workflows, and more (see screenshot below). |
Creating a New Product
-
In the Library, navigate to the Catalog root folder and select the category to which you want to add the product.
-
Click the New Content Item icon and select Product, or right-click the category and choose New Content Item > Product from the context menu.
-
In the dialog that appears, enter a name for the new product and click Create.
-
The new
Productcontent item is created and automatically linked to the selected category. Its form opens immediately. -
Enter at least a Product Title and a unique identifier in the Product Code field.
|
The Product Code must be unique across the catalog, as it is used to identify the product unambiguously. |
