Long Term Support (LTS) is the default release track, providing stability and long-term maintenance. Your primary update path as long as no AEP is released. When you install a new major version like CMCC 13 you are automatically on the LTS track.
Agile Maintenance Pack (AMP) comes as minor (change in the last version number) and major AMP (change in the middle version number). A minor AMP contains mostly bug fixes and minor improvements and no breaking changes, so upgrading is easy. Major AMPs contain technology updates that may affect project customizations ("breaking changes").
Plugin releases contain new features that are delivered as plugins and do not require breaking changes. They are released in the LTS track and can be adopted without switching to the AEP track.
Advanced Enhancement Pack (AEP) is a CMCC feature release that includes new platform capabilities requiring breaking changes. AEPs are only released when new features cannot be delivered as plugins or as non-breaking changes in the LTS track. Adopting an AEP may require project-specific upgrade tasks due to breaking API or technology changes.
Once you switch to an AEP release, you cannot return to the LTS track within the same major version (e.g. CMCC 13).
The very first release of a new major version (for example, CoreMedia CMCC 13) that is available to all customers, is also called the General Availability (GA) release.
