Using the Allow Notifications Widget
Build an onsite campaign that shows a widget to ask website visitors for permission to send push notifications.
Prerequisites

Ensure the user has:

Permissions to use the Engagement Studio.

Group Manager role.

Ensure the user is logged in to the Engagement Studio.
TIP: Open the Engagement Studio while following this how-to guide.
Steps
1. Open the New campaigns window

Click the icon
in the left side menu of Engagement Studio. -
Select Campaigns from the left side menu to open the Engagement page.

Click ➕ Add in the top right corner of a Campaign list panel.
2. Create an onsite campaign

Enter the campaign information in the New campaign window:

Name: Enter a name for the campaign. For example,
Allow notifications. -
Type: Select
Onsite.

Click Accept in the bottom right corner of the New campaign window.
3. Create the placeholder

Select the
Active elementstab. -
Click ➕ Add in the top right corner of the Active elements tab.

Enter the element information in the Add element window:

Name: Enter a name for the element. For example,
Allow notifications. -
Active Placeholder: Select
-new placeholder-.

Click Accept in the bottom right corner of the Add element window.
4. Add a new element

Click ➕ Add in the
Allow notificationsplaceholder. -
Select
Push notificationsfrom the list of widgets. -
Enter the widget information in the Configure element window:

Name: Enter a name for the widget. For example,
Allow notifications. -
Skin: Change the skin to your preference.

Click Accept in the bottom right corner of the Configure element window.

Activate the placeholder.
TIP: Preview the placeholder to see how the widget will appear to website visitors.
5. Activate the campaign

Activate the campaign.

Click Save in the top right corner of the Edit campaign window.
Result
The campaign becomes active, and the widget appears to website visitors according to the campaign settings. Visitors can then choose to allow or block push notifications from your website. When a visitor allows push notifications, Engagement Cloud adds the visitor id to a contact list of subscribers and a cookie to the visitor’s computer.
